Day tour to Versailles from Paris
Classified as a World Heritage site for over 30 years, the Chateau de Versailles is one of the greatest creations of French art. Since the 19th century, and thanks to King Louis Philippe, the chateau hosts the Museum of French History.
Formerly Louis the 13th’s hunting lodge, this building was completely transformed by Louis the 14th into a sumptuous chateau, built to commemorate the glory of the absolute monarchy and French art, and would be home to the Royal Family and Court starting in 1682. The Chateau de Versailles was, until the French Revolution, the seat of power for the kings of France.
Today, the Chateau has 2300 rooms divided over a 63,154 m2 area, including the famous and magnificent Hall of Mirrors, the Royal Apartments and the different State Rooms.
